Ms. Rugger liked the utility of Somfy Systems’ motorized patio shades, and contacted us to give her patio a certain look.
Ms. Rugger’s patio was an easier one to add shades to since it fits inside the crook of a winged house. With only two exposed sides and one doorway to worry about, we were able to outfit it with just three motorized rollers and vinyl fabric sheets. We installed a smaller, custom-made unit on either side of the patio step entrance, and a standard one along the smaller length. External wiring provides the power supply for the rollers, which are controlled through the Somfy myLink app. We fitted roller tracks onto the insides of the patio roof support columns, to hold the shades in place on windy days.
